Columbia Gorge Trail Bars

I have been eating them on training hikes in the Columbia Gorge. You could add raisins, coconut, dried fruits, different nuts or seeds. I try to avoid eggs and milk because of the spoilage factor. Preheat oven to about 300 degrees. Spray a 13 X 9 bakiing pan.

1 cup each of rolled oats and Grape Nuts
3/4 cup of carob chips
3/4 cup of chopped peanuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup melted butter, margarine; your choice
1/2 cup honey. This could be maple syrup or something similar

Mix dry ingrediants and peanut butter. Add wet ingrediants. Mix well. I use a spoon. Press with a spatula into the baking pan. Bake about 30 to 45 minutes until the edges are brown and it is a little bubbly. Cool and slice. I vacume seal and refridgerate these, but I want them to last until I put them into my resupply boxes. They are a little crumbly. Enjoy.
